Privacy Policy

LearnFolk is a one-to-one tutoring marketplace operated by FreNiMi, based in Chicago, Illinois. This policy explains what we collect when you use learnfolk.com, why, and who it is shared with. It covers LearnFolk only; frenimi.com has its own policy.

What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address, whether you learn or teach, and your password, which we store only as a salted hash, never in readable form.
• Tutor profiles: the subject, specialty, price, bio, credentials, tags, availability, and photo a tutor chooses to publish. Tutor profiles, ratings, and reviews are public on LearnFolk.
• Lessons and learning activity: bookings, lesson times, cancellations, assignments, submissions, grades and feedback, reviews, and notifications.
• Messages and files: messages between students and tutors who share a booking, and any files attached to messages or assignments.
• Payments: your wallet balance and transaction history. Card payments are handled by Stripe on its own pages; we never see or store your full card number.
• Technical data: a sign-in cookie, basic server logs (such as IP address and request time) used for security and rate limiting, and small items saved in your browser, such as tutors you have favorited.

How we use it

To create and secure your account, match students with tutors, schedule and run lessons, move money for bookings and tutor payouts, send the emails you need (booking updates, messages, password resets), prevent abuse, and keep the service working. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

Only with the services that run LearnFolk, and only what each needs:

• Stripe processes wallet payments and tutor payouts. Tutors who set up payouts give their identity, tax, and bank details to Stripe directly; LearnFolk does not receive or store them.
• Daily.co hosts live video lessons. Lessons are not recorded by LearnFolk.
• Resend delivers our emails.
• Hostinger hosts the website and database.
• Have I Been Pwned helps us warn you about passwords exposed in known data breaches. Only the first five characters of a one-way hash of your password are sent, never the password itself.

The other person in a lesson sees what is needed to teach or learn together, such as your name, messages, and submitted work. We may also disclose information when the law requires it or to protect the safety of our users.

Children and young learners

You must be 18 or older to create a LearnFolk account. Learners under 18 may take lessons only through an account created and managed by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for supervising the lessons. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active, and afterwards only as long as needed for payments, tax and accounting records, dispute resolution, and legal obligations.

Your choices and rights

You can update your profile details in your account. To access, correct, export, or delete your information, email info@frenimi.com from the address on your account. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, signed session cookies, access checks on every private file and page, and rate limits on sign-in. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a unique password.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell signed-in users.
